Acclaimed brand thinker and writer, Marty Neumeier, inspires Brunel Design Masters students

Brand Strategist Marty NeumeierBrand Strategist Marty Neumeier's latest bestselling book Scramble is not a text book, but a story that acts as an accessible blueprint for bringing agile strategy, design thinking and brand building together.

Marty and colleague Andy Starr worked with 50 of our Brand, Innovation and Digital Master's students and on project using the charity, Trinity Homeless Projects, as a live ‘client’. Our invited experts guided the ‘Brand Swarm’ process to create an amazingly rich and focused piece of work in just six hours of hard, but enjoyable work.

The students work centred on distilling the purpose and uniqueness, or ‘onlyness’ in Marty’s words, of the charity's brand. These were then converting into creative brand touchpoints or ways in which the brand can connect to people.

MA student Shraddha Tiwari said: "It was an amazing event full of knowledge and fun."

An audience drawn from London’s brand and business community joined us for an evening reception. Commenting on the incredible work produced by the students Marty added: "...it was a great day."

John Boult is Module leader for the MA Design & Branding programme. John explained that: "Brunel Design is continually developing new ways to engage with students, to build that all important student experience. It also strives to bring the world’s best brand thinkers to Brunel. Thank you, Marty Neumeier, a star."
