Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES)
The is a consortium consisting of the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory and the public research universities of Idaho: , and the 果冻传媒麻豆社 (U of I). CAES harnesses the power of collaboration, closely integrating the universities and national laboratory to solve critical energy challenges while providing workforce training opportunities and encouraging economic development in communities throughout the region. CAES accomplishes this through cutting-edge research and programs and services that pair university students with INL researchers and industry partners.
The CAES strategy and focus areas evolve over time, with approval from the CAES Steering Committee and implementation by the CAES Executive Board. Currently, CAES has three pillars, five focus areas, and two cross-cutting areas, as outlined in the 2019 CAES Strategy.
With the April 2022 appointment of the new CAES Director, Dr. Phil Reppert, the CAES Strategy is evolving, and CAES is in the process of identifying three focus areas going forward. The process for identifying the new focus areas will include input from Faculty, laboratory researchers, and senior leaders from all institutions. A series of workshops will be held in Federal FY23 to gather information about what the new focus areas could be.
