How are you coping during the coronavirus pandemic?

christina survey 920x540

Researchers from Brunel University London have joined international colleagues from seven countries to undertake a global survey on how people are coping during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The anonymous online survey – open to people aged 18 and over – includes questions on demographics, health, health behaviours, loneliness, isolation and personal experiences and aims to help the researchers to understand how people are coping with loneliness and social isolation during the pandemic.

Recently introduced social distancing rules have required people to make significant changes to their work, home and social lives – changes the researchers suspect has led to many more people experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

“This survey can offer invaluable insights into life before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, including key challenges faced and coping strategies used. It will help us understand how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on individuals, families, communities, policies and services at both a country and global level and will be key to informing society in the future,” said Prof Christina Victor, Professor of Gerontology and Public Health.

“We know that chronic loneliness and social isolation are associated with poor health outcomes and we suspect that unfortunately many more people will have experienced loneliness and social isolation during this time.  By working with international experts and gathering data at a global level we can pool expertise and support governments and policymakers in making decisions to address this challenge.”
