Summary
Nick teaches subjects in ecology and environmental change to students studying Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Life Sciences and Geography and works with colleagues to develop innovative teaching, learning and assessment across the University. Nick's academic background is as an ecologist interested in how ecological communities assemble and disassemble and has broad interests in biodiversity conservation. His pedagogical interests include authentic assessment, understanding how universities can embed environmental sustainability across the curriculum and developing innovative interdisciplinary teaching on complex subjects such as climate change.

Responsibility
Nick is Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education (Student Experience). Before this he was Associate Dean (Student Experience) for the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences from 2018-2022. He co-Chairs the University's Student Experience and Welfare sub-Committee (with the Vice President of the Brunel Union of Students) and is a member of the Student Experience Strategy Group. He previously led academic programmes in Environmental Sciences and is an External Examiner at Keele University. Nick is the co-Chair for the British Ecological Society's Special Intererst Group for Teaching and Learning.
