Kristen Tiede and the passion of preserving stories of the past
Broken porcelain, old medicine bottles, and other discarded artifacts are all that remain of the Kooskia Internment Camp, a World War II Japanese internment camp located 30 miles east of Kooskia, Idaho. Even many local residents aren’t aware of the camp which operated from 1943 to the end of the war, and held more than 250 detainees. Some day, as a graduate, I would like to ensure that stories like these are shared and not forgotten.
Majoring in anthropology has allowed me to combine my passions for studying history and anthropology. I started as a student volunteer in the anthropology lab, but today I work as a research assistant and manage the collection from the camp for the 果冻传媒麻豆社’s Sociology and Anthropology Department.
