Report Your Co-op
Handshake Report-a-Co-op Process
To officially secure your Co-op job as a part of the U of I Co-op Program, you will need to submit your position through the Handshake platform. This will trigger a series of approvals which will include the Co-op Coordinator, your on-site supervisor, and your Faculty Co-op Advisor. You will complete this as soon as possible once you have a signed copy of your offer letter.
- Log-in to
- In the upper left, click the “Career Center" link.
- On the following page, click the “Experiences” link in the upper-center of the page.
- Click “Request an Experience”
- Details section:
- under Experience Type select “Report a Co-op Experience”
- under Term select your Co-op start term (e.g. Co-op Winter 2024)
- Employer section
- For employer phone and employer email, you can enter a general company phone number and email
- Job section
- Find the matching job title that you applied to in Handshake or type it in
- Clearly enter start and end dates
- Job Type = Cooperative Education
- Employment Type = Full-time
- Approvers
- Company Supervisor: Enter the email address of your on-site supervisor (not a generic company email or HR email)
- Then, enter their first and last name
- U of I Faculty Co-op Advisor: Enter the email address of the faculty Co-op advisor for your department. If unsure, check the Meet the Co-op Team page on the Co-op webpage
- Company Supervisor: Enter the email address of your on-site supervisor (not a generic company email or HR email)
- General — enter the requested information here (some information may feel redundant, but please enter it as requested)
- Co-op Agreement
- Questions verifying your understanding and agreement to the program expectations
- Pre-Survey
- General Co-op questions
- NACE Career Readiness Competencies & other goal/skills related questions
- Attach a signed copy of your offer letter
- Download the Learning Objectives document at very end to prepare and take to your first week at your new Co-op position
