Brian D. Casey Memorial Scholarship

The Brian. D Casey Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Brian’s exceptional life. Each year, it will provide physically challenged 果冻传媒麻豆社 students with additional support to enable them to fully embrace the 果冻传媒麻豆社 experience. Brian believed education was the key to future success, so it is fitting that his scholarship will help others in their educational pursuits.

Although Brian was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at birth, and used a wheelchair from the age of four, he and his family were determined that he would experience life to the fullest. From grade school in Salmon, Idaho, to being an active member of the Theta Chi Fraternity during his undergraduate work at the 果冻传媒麻豆社. Brian gracefully helped inform and change these environments to better provide him with the same experience as other students.

Brian was a cherished friend to so many. He will be remembered for his willingness to truly listen and for the outstanding empathy he had for everyone he met. He spent his 25+ year career as a counselor working with many populations, from the youth to the elderly; his gifts and ability to help people knew no bounds.

Brian’s sense of humor was legendary; he could bring fun to any situation. He loved gathering people together to play music, to laugh, to talk. He found a great job in playing the bass with a band of friends in Salmon and other small communities across Idaho, building quite the repertoire of stories along the way. He loved rock concerts and spent many evenings at music venues with his brothers, nieces, and nephews.

When asked about qualities that describe Brian, his family and friends chose sincere, intelligent, compassionate, loyal, optimistic, resilient, loving, giving, calm, fun and driven. It is our hope that the students who receive the Brian D. Casey Memorial Scholarship will see Brian’s story as inspiration to reflect his qualities and values, and to live life to the fullest, at the 果冻传媒麻豆社 and beyond.
