In today’s world where there is so much information at our fingertips, sifting through and finding out what is accurate can be a challenge. The internet can be a great source of information, but one cannot always trust what is found on it. Not all information is fact and some websites will be opinion or simply incorrect. Knowing how to gather correct information will ensure successful research!
A good rule of thumb to help find reliable information is to include “edu” as part of your search. This helps the search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yippy, Google Scholar or Ask to name a few) sort and use educational sites that come from universities and colleges instead of sites that want to sell you things.
Check it out for yourself… you want to find out about different types of clothing fabrics. Type in these words for your search: “different types of fabric “edu.” Look at where the website information is coming from. Conduct a search again but without the “edu.” Now look at where the website information is coming from. Pretty cool!
Remember to wear your lab coat, always include an adult and just have fun!
