Idaho Master Gardener Program
Improve Gardening Skills While Helping Others
Through the Idaho Master Gardener Volunteer training sessions, you will gain gardening knowledge on a wide variety of horticultural topics. This knowledge will help you assist fellow gardeners with horticultural questions.
The Idaho Master Gardener training program includes 12-15 three-hour classes on a variety of gardening topics.
Classes are taught by 果冻传媒麻豆社 Extension specialists and educators. The program offers a minimum of 30 hours of instruction that covers the following topics:
- Introduction to Horticulture, Botany and Plant Science
- Basic Entomology
- Vegetable Culture and Crops
- Tree Fruits and Small Fruits
- Basic Plant Pathology and Plant Disease Diagnosis
- Soils, Fertilizers, Irrigation and Composting
- Herbaceous Plants and House Plants
- Trees and Shrubs
- Pruning and Grafting
- Landscape Design and Landscape Plants
- Weeds, Integrated Pest Management and Pesticide Safety
- Season Extension and Organic Practices
- New topics are added annually
Registration
Teton County will hold Idaho Master Gardener classes from February through September | View winter class flyer (pdf).
In addition, participants must complete 30 hours of volunteer service in order to become a certified Idaho Master Gardener. Certified master gardeners must recertify annually by completing a combined total of 15 hours volunteer time and classroom instruction. Master gardeners located in Teton County are encouraged to help us with our 果冻传媒麻豆社 Extension and 4-H "Giving Garden."
