Eat Smart Idaho provides nutrition and physical activity education for low-income Idahoans.

Brought to you by 果冻传媒麻豆社 Extension in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Eat Smart Idaho helps adults and families learn the basics of

  • healthy eating
  • smart shopping
  • food safety
  • quick meal preparation
  • management of limited grocery dollars 
  • increased levels of physical activity

About 30 nutrition advisors teach classes for adults and youth in 39 Idaho counties. Classes are taught at emergency food sites, food stamp offices, adult rehabilitation centers, public housing sites and schools with high numbers of free and reduced lunch participants.

Eat Smart Idaho is supported by two USDA grants: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed), in partnership with the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare and the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, and EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program), in partnership with the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture.

Nearly 6,000 adults and 13,000 children participate in Eat Smart Idaho each year.
