Phase 2: Mobile Vaccine Clinic — Innovating a New Approach
Project Overview June 2021-May 2023 — Getting vaccinated against any disease is a personal choice. And it is okay to have questions and need answers before making a decision that feels right for you.
¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç Extension has a long history of providing communities throughout Idaho with reliable, evidence-based information for a wide variety of topics that influence our quality of life and the success of our communities. In partnership with multiple health care providers, we are offering mobile vaccination clinics to rural communities that have limited access to healthcare and/or have a large population of Hispanic/Latinx agricultural workers. These clinics, however, go beyond the typical approach of setting up, giving as many shots as possible and leaving quickly. While our clinics are designed to be efficient and convenient, our team of educators are ready to invest the time needed to provide resources and information to groups prior to offering vaccines. We will coordinate with groups to be available for conversations and answer questions in a safe, supportive environment.
This outreach is not designed to pressure or persuade, but to share reliable information that people can use to make their decisions — whether those decisions occur right then or sometime in the future. We recognize that there is a lot of misleading and confusing information circulating. We hope to utilize our position as a trusted community resource to help folks feel comfortable asking their questions and sharing their concerns.
Here’s how it works:
- ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç team coordinates with the a group leader, employer or representative to plan the pre-clinic educational outreach. This is customized for each group to best address common concerns, communication needs, most appropriate delivery methods.
- Idaho Immunization Coalition coordinates with the group/site leader to schedule the vaccine clinic onsite and will manage all clinic logistics. ISU pharmacy staff manage all health screenings and vaccine administration at the clinic. ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç Extension educators will be present and available at the clinic.
- ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç Extension team will follow-up with the site leader after the clinic to review the process, provide additional resources and potentially return for continued education if needed.
- There is no fee or cost to groups/sites that request a clinic.
