About a war
About a War follows three opposing fighters who first took up arms as teenagers and didn’t stop fighting until the bloody 15-year Lebanese Civil War conflict ended.
“The conflict in Syria brings Lebanon back into the spotlight as Lebanon becomes a refuge for Syrians traumatised by another conflict,” said Dr Daniele Rugo, Senior Film Studies lecturer.
The Acting Class
This award-winning, tough-talking documentary, featuring big-time actors like Christopher Eccleston, Maxine Peake and Tom Stocks looks at how hard it is for working-class youngsters to break into acting.
“It's really important to gather the testimony and experiences of working-class people and present them in ways that expose what's happening,” said Professor in Media, Michael Wayne, “Hopefully winning a London Labour Film Festival award will help raise the profile of the issues highlighted.”
The Sound
Screened at the prestigious HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood, the short film follows a young girl desperate to find the source of the haunting sound plaguing her mother. Starring BAFTA-nominated actor Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones) and executive co-produced by BAFTA winner Noel Clarke (Star Trek) and our very own Dr Paul Moody.
The Stay
Written, directed and co-produced by Brunel’s Frazer Lee, the film has won the prestigious Edgar Allan Poe Gothic Filmmaker Award 2018 at Zed Fest Film Festival, held in Hollywood USA.
The independent film, starring Daniela Finley, was shot entirely on location in Gloucestershire with cinematography by Alan Stewart (Disney's Aladdin).
