A. FACULTY. A faculty member who wishes to resign should submit a letter of resignation to their college dean; the letter is normally routed through the unit administrator. As noted in 3170 A, a faculty member contemplating interruption or termination of service to UI should consider the effect of such a decision, and of its timing, on the programs of the institution and should give due notice of their intention. (The procedures for recruitment and selection for permanent full-time faculty positions normally require approximately three months.)

B. EXEMPT STAFF. A member of the exempt staff who wishes to resign should be guided by the statements in A, and should provide at least one month's notice.

C. CLASSIFIED STAFF. Full-time classified employees who wish to resign are expected to give at least two weeks' notice. (See also 3950.)
