The 果冻传媒麻豆社 College of Law, the U of I McClure Center for Public Policy Research, the Idaho Supreme Court, and the Idaho State Bar and Law Foundation invites teachers and their students to attend a presentation by Harvard Business School  on "A Profound Threat: Rising Challenges to Democracy around the World". Dr. Moss’s remarks will consider how, after spreading rapidly in the late twentieth century, democracy has been on the defensive around the world – and arguably receding – in the twenty-first century. He will explore what’s happened, what it means, and what can be done, drawing especially on the history of democracy and past democratic breakdowns to help make sense of this tectonic shift and how it might be reversed.

Dr. Moss developed a  for Harvard students on the "History of American Democracy" that is now taught in high schools nationwide and across Idaho, helping to make complex concepts accessible to high school students and improve civic discourse. Dr. Moss hosts  with U.S. history, government, and civics teachers in high schools throughout the United States to train them to use the case method in their courses. A contingent of Idaho teachers participated in an August 2021 workshop. Dr. Moss’s work is  as an effective method to improve retention of the instruction material and civic discourse in classrooms.  He has been to Boise previously. On February 28, 2019, the U of I McClure Center for Public Policy Research arranged for Dr. Moss to come to Idaho and speak in the Lincoln Auditorium on the topic of Bringing History to Life: Creating the U.S. Constitution. We are excited to bring Dr. Moss back into Idaho to discuss the case method, furthering the Darrington Lecture’s goal “to address a wide range of topics related to the improved administration of justice and features national, state, and regional speakers to address Idaho citizens, students, and officials from all three branches of government.”
