Auditorium Chamber Music Series to present Anthony McGill and Gloria Chien Dec. 6

MOSCOW, Idaho 鈥 The Auditorium Chamber Music Series presents Grammy-nominated clarinetist Anthony McGill and superior pianist Gloria Chien in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the 果冻传媒麻豆社 Administration Building Auditorium. Tickets are available at , at the door (card only) and at the Bruce M. Pitman Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.聽
McGill enjoys a dynamic solo and chamber music career and is principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic 鈥 the first African American principal player in the organization鈥檚 history. Previously, he was the principal clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera. He is the recipient of the 2020 Avery Fisher Prize and was named Musical America鈥檚 2024 Instrumentalist of the Year. 鈥淎merican Stories,鈥 his album with the Pacifica Quartet, was nominated for a Grammy Award, and he has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma, captivating audiences worldwide.
鈥淲ords cannot describe the elation we feel as we anticipate the upcoming performance of Anthony McGill and Gloria Chien this week,鈥 said Eneida Larti, artistic director of ACMS and assistant professor of piano at the Lionel Hampton School of Music. 鈥淢cGill has achieved what many musicians only dream of 鈥 serving as the principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic.鈥
Taiwanese-born pianist Chien has one of the most diverse musical lives as a noted performer, concert presenter and educator. She made her orchestral debut at the age of 16 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She was subsequently selected by The Boston Globe, which said she 鈥渁ppears to excel in everything,鈥 as one of its Superior Pianists of the year. She is also a frequent performer with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Since 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series has presented some of the world's finest small ensembles in the beautiful neo-Gothic auditorium in the heart of U聽of聽I鈥檚 campus. Four ensembles visit the Palouse each year, performing for the series and enriching the region through school residencies, informal performances in community venues and master classes.
