Research Interests

  • Sustainable concrete technology, such as extrusion / numerical modelling of extrusion systems for cement-based materials & products and development of elliptical ring test method for assessing cracking tendency of concrete and other cement-based materials
  • Testing and modelling of fracture and shrinkage cracking of concrete and other cement-based materials at early ages
  • Constitutive modelling of rheology of fiber-reinforced cement-based semi-solid materials at very early ages
  • Computation mechanics in civil engineering structures and materials, multi-scale (nano-, micro-, meso- and macro-) modelling of fracture and structural behavior of cement-based materials and structures
  • Sustainable low carbon cement materials such as geopolymer/alkali-activated cement and magnesium oxychloride (MOC) cement
  • Energy efficient cementitious materials with phase-change materials (PCMs)
  • Supplementary cementitious materials, such as aluminosilicate rich mining waste, GGBS, PFA and metakaolin, in concrete and other cement-based materials
  • Applications of nanotechnology in cement and concrete
  • Natural fiber reinforced cement-based materials: formulation, engineering properties & structural performance
  • Performance-based multi-hazards mitigation of building structures under extreme loadings like earthquakes and strong winds
