Academic conferences offer students an important opportunity to share their work with others, receive valuable feedback, engage in important networking activities and gain valuable experience to highlight on a resume. The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) strongly encourages all undergraduates who are in a position to present their work to do so at the U of I Undergraduate Research Symposium and if possible at professional conferences.
University, State and National Symposia
The Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research (ICUR), the first of its kind in the state of Idaho, is a celebration showcasing the leading edge of undergraduate research in all disciplines. Undergraduate students of diverse backgrounds and disciplines from across the state gather to present their research to their peers, educators and the public. ICUR is an annual, two-day conference held at the end of July in Boise, Idaho.

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) promotes undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education. Through this three-day annual conference, NCUR celebrates and promotes undergraduate student achievement, and provides models of exemplary research and scholarship. NCUR provides access to the conference to under-represented students and assists in the development of networks and support structures among those students. For more information, visit the .
Departmental, Program and College Symposia
The Office of Undergraduate Research hosts a university-wide undergraduate research symposium in April. This annual symposium is designed to showcase and celebrate the research and scholarly work in all disciplines by undergraduates at 果冻传媒麻豆社. The event is open to the public.

Undergraduate students with a declared major in the College of Science and graduate students participating in research supervised by a College of Science faculty member have the opportunity to present their work in poster format at the annual Student Research Exposition, held in November.

The annual Engineering Design Expo showcases senior capstone projects, and is the Northwest’s longest-running, interdisciplinary initiative featuring student innovations. Students of all ages are invited to see what U of I students have researched and created. Held in April.

Undergraduates who participate in summer, NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs at U of I present their research at an end-of-program student research symposium during the first week of August.

Undergraduates supported by the INBRE Undergraduate Fellowship Program present the results of their summer research projects at the annual NIH IDeA Western Regional Conference. Held in the fall.
