Since 1997, the ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç Dual Credit Program has offered students the opportunity to enroll and earn credit for college and high school simultaneously. The program has expanded the opportunities to credit at the high schools across the state, including offering enrollment in university online and on-campus courses. Credits earned through the U of I can be applied to their U of I college graduation or transferred to other colleges or universities.

High School Teaching Partners

All Dual Credit teachers are required to attend at least one U of I professional development event per semester to receive program updates, services and discipline-specific interactions that will further enhance pedagogy and breadth of knowledge in the discipline.

The Dual Credit Program can create courses established in the . Gen Ed courses meet the high school graduation requirements set by the university and the state; these courses offer an opportunity not only to lay the foundations of a career but also to develop the mind to its highest potential, to cultivate the imagination as well as the power to reason and to gain the intellectual curiosity that makes education a life-long pursuit.

A student working toward a baccalaureate degree must complete the necessary course work in the seven categories described below ().

The high school teacher must meet the same qualifications as those met by U of I faculty within the academic department. Most Academic departments require instructors to hold at least a Master’s degree in the content area of the course requested.

Please contact the Dual Credit Program at dualcredit@uidaho.edu to discuss adding a NEW course to the Dual Credit Catalog of offerings.

The following must be completed before a new course can be scheduled:

  • Approval of high school district administrator
  • Approval of ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç college dean
  • Assigned faculty liaison of record
  • Approved high school teacher application
  • Completed MOU agreement

Final grades are due at noon on the due date.

Entering Grades

Teachers enter grades and grade corrections through MyUI. Final grades are not viewable to students until they are processed and posted by the Registrar after the end of term date. Grade corrections can be submitted up to one year after the original grade was submitted (e.g. original grade for fall 2017 can be changed through the last day of fall 2018). Submitting final grades for incomplete or in-progress grades are considered grade corrections and follow the correction process.

When Assigning Failing Grades

If the final grade for a student is F (failing) or N (no pass/English), a Last Attend Date must also be entered due to federal regulation. The Last Attend Date must be entered in the proper format of MM/DD/YYYY and must be within the dates of the class. An entry error will occur if the date is not entered correctly, and no entries will be saved. Error messages will be displayed at the top of the roster as well as to the right of the student(s) listed.

Dual Credit teaching partners are assigned a Vandal account to be used for accessing computers, network drives, printers, Canvas, and MyUI. The U of I email is used as the official method of communication and will be shared during the onboarding process.

It can take up to 24 hours for a new account to populate into U of I services. If you are experiencing issues after that point, please contact OIT at support@uidaho.edu or 208-885-4357 (HELP), option 2.

Activating a New Account

To use an account for the first time, teaching partners will visit the “” page, login using the NetID/username from the newly created email account (e.g., joevandal - @uidaho.edu), and select the option to change password.

After the password has been set, the account must be enrolled into DUO multi-factor authentication. This can be done by opening a new browser such as Edge, Chrome, or Firefox, and visiting the page.

Once the password has been updated and the account has been enrolled in DUO, the account will be ready for use.

Accessing an Account

To access email anywhere with a web browser, go to . Instructions for setting up a preferred email client can be found on the Office of Information (OIT) .

Teaching partner accounts will be deleted if the association with U of I ends or if there are any violations of the U of I Acceptable Use Policies.

Changing a Password

Passwords may be changed at any time by accessing the page with either a current, active password or a password that recently expired. It is advised that passwords are changed often to maintain a high level of security both for individual accounts and the U of I network.

Important Note about Passwords

OIT reserves the right to disable accounts that have easy-to-guess passwords. If a password is forgotten, visit the page and follow the "click here to reset your password" link.

The ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç’s Student Code of Conduct was developed in partnership with ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç students and faculty and approved by the Idaho Board of Regents.  It exists to educate students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of a safe, civil and ethical academic community. Complete information can be found in the Office of the Dean of Students.

  • Teaching Partners should submit their syllabus before the first week in September to their Faculty Liaisons for review and approval. Approved syllabi should be submitted to the Dual Credit office using the syllabus template.
  • FLs have two weeks from when they are back on contract in August to review and approve/offer feedback on syllabi to teaching partners.
  • All syllabi should be approved and submitted to the Dual Credit Program by the FL by the second Friday of September. Approved syllabi should be emailed to dualcredit@uidaho.edu
  • A reminder email will be sent to all partners by the second week of August with these reminders.

As a reminder, all dual credit courses should use the syllabi template and include the following information:

Teacher Responsibilities

  1. Introduce U of I’s culture to students.
  2. Complete a New Teacher Orientation prior to offering the course.
  3. Attend at least one faculty provided professional development session per semester.
  4. Submit yearly course syllabus for review/approval.
  5. Confirm course accuracy for each term on the Dual Credit courses page.
  6. Distribute the approved program syllabus, which includes registration, drop and withdraw deadlines to students.
  7. Verify the Vandal roster during the first week of course registration, again prior to the drop deadline and before the withdrawal to ensure enrollment accuracy.
  8. Remind students to complete the End of Course Evaluation available in their MyUI accounts.

    Deliverables per Academic Year

    • Submit U of I Syllabi & High School Syllabi template before the start of the course with matching learning outcomes (SLO)
    • Invite your mentor for a Site ¹û¶³´«Ã½Â鶹Éç the first semester of the first-course offering and then every other year.
    • Meet with your mentor to collaborate on professional development once a semester to complete a total of 8 hours per academic year. (Aug through July)

School District Administrator Responsibilities

  1. Support the Dual Credit Program within the school district.
  2. Act as a liaison between high school students, parents, teachers, Dual Credit staff and the community.
  3. Support high school teachers serving as U of I adjunct Teaching Partners.
  4. Collaborate with the Dual Credit Program to resolve any questions or concerns.

Dual Credit teachers can request a VandalCard and access to U of I resources. The Dual Credit office will be contacted to verify partnership with the program.

Requirements:

  • Currently teaching a Dual Credit course
  • Navigate to and click “Request a Vandal Card”.

To access MyUI to verify course roster, check on a students’ status, etc. Please note that DUO MFA will be used for all U of I account and most systems. Before you can gain complete the FERPA tutorial in the Personal Information Tab.

  1. Login to MyUI     
    • First Time User: Vandal Setup
    • Enter your NetID (e.g., joevandal — @uidaho.edu) and your password
    • If your NET ID has numbers, you are using your student account (joev1234 — @vandals.uidaho.edu), which is the wrong account.
    • if you have lost net ID send an email to dualcredit@uidaho.edu.
    • Approve your login using
  2. Complete the FERPA Tutorial
    • Click on the FERPA Tutorial link inside MyUI âž” Personal Information âž” Take the FERPA Tutorial
    • Note: 24 hours after the FERPA Tutorial is completed, the Faculty & Advisor Menu will appear.
    • Your Net ID is used for Campus Computers, Canvas, , MyUI and Vandal email.

  3. Still cannot log in? Contact OIT Support and Identify yourself as a Dual Credit Teacher.

Requests for support should be submitted to their ticketing system by using one of the following options:

  • Navigate to the support

  • Call 208-885-HELP and leave a voicemail.

Verify the enrollment accuracy in MyUI one week after registration according to your MOU section 8; to ensure your student list matches your high school roster. Verification is also important before the drop and withdrawal deadlines to ensure your student's requests are processed; students who moved from the high school, switched classes or withdrew from university credit.

Provide a copy of the MyUI class roster to your high school’s Advance Opportunities liaison to confirm the accuracy of entries in the Advanced Opportunities portal.
