Kristin Haltinner's research is on social inequality, pedagogy, and political sociology. Her current projects are on climate change skepticism and traumatic birth experiences.

A Midwesterner, Kristin Haltinner came to U of I after completing her doctorate in sociology at the University of Minnesota. Prior to that she earned her master's degree in sociology and bachelor’s degrees in Africana studies and psychology.

Haltinner's research focuses on social inequality, critical pedagogy and political sociology. She has done projects on the tea party, nativism and militia organizing. Her current projects are on climate change skepticism and traumatic birth experiences.
