BRAVE & ÁNiMO Leadership Program

This summer the B.R.A.V.E. (Building Relationships, Adventure, and Values through the Environment) program invites middle school students (ages 10–14) to make new friends, explore the outdoors, and gain community leadership skills.

In this two-week service-learning program participants will explore and learn about...

  • Local government – Spend the day at City Hall!
  • Community resources – Get their Library Cards!
  • Recreation in our area – Bike in Ponderosa!
  • Volunteer at local non-profits – Walk a puppy at McPaws!

Partners in the BRAVE program include–The City of McCall, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, The US Forest Service, McPaws Animal Shelter

ÁNiMO!

The first 2-weeks of summer we are thrilled to continue offering ÁNiMO: Amistades, la Naturaleza de McCall, y Oportunidades. ÁNiMO is a bilingual extension of BRAVE.

Ánimo is a Spanish word that means “encouragement” and broadly means “Don’t give up! You can do it!” The intended purpose of this program is to create a welcoming space for local Hispanic students to practice leadership skills and build relationships with one another, the local environment, and the community.

Summer 2025 Dates:

ÁNiMO: June 9 - June 20
BRAVE Session 1: June 23 – July 3 (No programming on July 4th)
BRAVE Session 2: July 7 – July 18
BRAVE Session 3: July 21 – August 1st
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday

These day programs are for participants ages 10-14.

Frequently Asked Questions

The student to instructor ratio depends on the size of the session. Our goal is to have five students to one field instructor to provide excellent mentorship.

MOSS is located inside of Ponderosa State Park (PSP) so we are fortunate to have the park as our playground. We will also canoe to various locations on Payette Lake. Our goal is to show students how to use McCall’s public bus system and visit various community locations including the McCall Library and Brown’s Park.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you need to drop off your child late or pick them up early, just contact the on-call phone number 208-855-1081. Unfortunately, we cannot give any discounts. One full day is billed regardless of how long your child actually attended.

Click the enrollment link below and use the guide to help you through the process. Please have a good idea of the dates you need to reserve. Changing dates in the new enrollment system is not simple.
