Zhao’s research and teaching interests have focused on the core area of chemical engineering and fundamental understanding for the application of energy and environmental challenges. Before joining 果冻传媒麻豆社, she worked at Advanced Photon Source in the Argonne National Laboratory using Synchrotron X-ray probes for catalytic materials characterization as postdoctoral research associate then assistant chemist. Zhao runs the Materials and Chemistry Laboratory at Idaho Falls Center with research capability funded by DOE infrastructure and NRC faculty development.

Zhao has won more than 20 external grants and contracts as PI and co-PI totaling $ 5 million. Due to her outstanding achievements, Zhao was recognized as CAES Fellow at the center of advanced energy studies in 2021.

Zhao speaks Mandarin and English. She has great working experience with international students and minority groups.
