Vandal Promise
Angel Dominguez
Medical Sciences, Class of 2025
Hometown: Kooskia, Idaho
Now in my second year in medical sciences, I am having a wonderful time as a 果冻传媒麻豆社 student. I am focused on growth and leadership, taking as many classes as possible that prepare me for what I am going to experience as a doctor and help me make an impact on patients' health.
I was drawn to medicine from my experiences as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and want to become a doctor to help others. As a high school student, I took an EMT course and then volunteered in my community, realizing in the process that there was a huge scope for what I could experience in the medical field.
At U of I, my favorite class, developmental psychology, explores the mental and physical changes that happen throughout childhood. This course sparked my interest in pediatrics and family medicine. Post-graduation, I plan to attend medical school and become an M.D. with the goal of staying here in Idaho to serve rural communities. I want to impact others through service.
There is a high sense of pride in being a Vandal. You have the support of everyone around you. The College of Science is filled with people who strive to do well. Everyone has high aspirations for what they can accomplish. I am an active volunteer EMT with the Moscow Fire Department, and on campus I am involved in club softball, the Global Medical Brigades Club and the Pre-Med Club, learning ways to help my community, gaining new medical skills and growing my leadership qualities.
Thanks to awards like the Vandal Promise Scholarship, the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship, the James and Marsha Seeley Science Scholarship and the G.D. Shearer Scholarship, I am able to be a full-time student, take part in great clubs and activities, volunteer and find my community here in Moscow.
If it wasn鈥檛 for your support, I would not have been able to attend college or be where I am now.
I want the Vandal community to know that I am very grateful for your generosity to students like me. If it wasn鈥檛 for your support, I would not have been able to attend college or be where I am now. Thank you so much for letting me make the most of my university experience!
Student Stories from Colleges
鈥淵our financial support helped me focus on my crucial first year of college without the added challenge of balancing work and school. This is allowing me to academically succeed while discovering who I am as a person. I can't put into words how thankful I am for that.鈥
