The IBEST Genomics and Bioinformatics Resources Core provides experience, expertise and specialized equipment for genomics research to collaborators on campus and at external institutions. Our expertise can benefit a diverse range of fields including human biomedical research, agricultural studies, forest management, and animal and plant genomics among others. Our services include: Illumina DNA and RNA library preparation and sequencing, bioinformatic and statistical analysis, targeted amplicon sequencing for metagenomic and other applications, and custom wet-lab and bioinformatic protocols on an hourly basis. Additionally, we provide consulting for experimental design, project planning, cost estimates and letters of support for funding proposals.

Our facilities include a laboratory dedicated to low quality DNA sample types including fecal, hair and aquatic environmental DNA samples. High quality DNA sample types, like blood and plant or animal tissue, are processed in another laboratory space that is separated from the low quality DNA lab. Our capillary electrophoresis facility can process PCR products for both fragment analysis and sequencing applications. Finally, we have a fully equipped computer lab for data analysis.
